Cadets find a wealth of opportunity when they join and participate actively in the Cavil Air Patrol programs available to them. Please see the Cadet Information Page HERE for important information you will enjoy learning about!
While there are many youth-oriented programs in America today, CAP’s Cadet Program is unique in that it uses aviation as a cornerstone. Thousands of young people from 12 years through age 21 are introduced to aviation through CAP’s cadet program (Cadets must join before their 19th birthday if they wish to remain a Cadet). The program allows young people to progress at their own pace through a multi-step program which includes aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness and character development.
Whatever their interests—leadership development, search and rescue, flight training, model rocketry, photography, astronomy, radio communications—there is a place for youth in CAP’s Cadet Program. Each year, cadets can participate in special activities at the local, state, regional and national levels. Many cadets will have the opportunity to fly an aircraft for the first time through a flight encampment or academy. Others may enjoy traveling abroad through the International Air Cadet Exchange Program. Others may choose to assist at major air shows throughout the nation.
Cadets also have the opportunity to make new friendships and explore new opportunities, all while creating opportunities to work toward stronger communities and building confidence in their ability to achieve and succeed in a variety of situations.
